SARS Associated Coronavirus

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Prevention

Severe acute respiratory syndrome is a human viral respiratory disease caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV). In 2002 and 2003, there was a near pandemic in Hong Kong with 8,422 cases of the disease while 916 people died across the globe, or roughly 10.9% of all the people who became infected. SARS is a very aggressive disease capable of devastating results. It only took a few weeks before it tore right through Hong Kong and soared to 37 other countries.

Although the last known case of a naturally infected human occurred back in the middle of 2003, SARS has in no way been wiped out like so many diseases that came before it. It is likely still present in its native hosts which are animals and is merely lying dormant until it settles in another human and it all begins again. Because we know that you can never anticipate when an illness will strike, Clear Gear Sports Spray is specially designed to kill the viruses that cause illnesses like SARS Associated Coronavirus. Clear Gear Sports Spray can be used in a variety of applications such as treating objects shared at schools, daycares, locker rooms, on backpacks, even the cases of our cell phones and tablets.

Disinfect SARS Coronavirus

Some of those who suffered through SARS didn’t make it. It was especially tragic for those over 65 as they experienced a 50% mortality rate. Younger victims were relatively luckier with those between 25 and 44 suffering a 15% mortality rate and those younger than 25 experiencing just a 1% mortality rate. To put these numbers into better perspective, the influenza type 1 virus’s mortality rate is just 0.03%.

Some common symptoms of SARS include:

  • Fever
  • Malaise or lethargy
  • Sore throat / cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Low grade fever

Stop SARS in it’s Tracks

SARS is highly contagious and can be contracted through close or sexual contact with someone suffering from SARS in the past 10 or so days. Treatment for SARS has typically been with antipyretics and oxygen ventilation treatments. If someone is suspected to have contracted SARS, they must be isolated and in an ideally, negative pressure room. They should also be treated by health care providers wearing adequate safety clothing. Some additional complications have been noted from people who suffered SARS. These complications have included:

  • Pulmonary fibrosis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Femoral necrosis
  • Serious depressive disorders
