How did the concept of Clear Gear come about?

One of the owners of the company contracted a dangerous Strep infection from his ice hockey equipment. The bacteria entered his body through a small abrasion on his elbow. After a lengthy hospital stay, he and his partners began researching how to protect athletes from these dangerous bacteria. Armed with a scary firsthand experience on the need for such a product, the Clear Gear team worked with scientists and chemists to quickly develop what has become Clear Gear Sports Spray.

What does Clear Gear kill exactly?

As a disinfectant, Clear Gear kills: Staphylococcus aureus (Staph), MRSA, CA-MRSA, Streptococcus pyogenes (Strep) ( a cause of Scarlet Fever), Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1, Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, Human Coronavirus, Influenza Virus Type A,/ Brazil Influenza, Influenza Type A Hong Kong Influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), SARS Associated Coronavirus and Vaccinia (Pox Virus). How does Clear Gear Work?

The active ingredients in Clear Gear are known as Quaternary Ammonium Compounds. They begin working immediately on contact with your sports gear. They kill by entering a bacteria’s cell and disrupting the inner membrane of the bacteria causing leakage of intercellular material. This result leads to the inability of the cell to function causing death.

Is Clear Gear safe for my Athlete?

The active compounds in Clear Gear Sports Spray have been safely used for over 80 years. The formula has been designed specifically to keep your athlete healthy, safe and in the game. Clear Gear Sports Spray is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA has approved Clear Gear as a one step hospital grade disinfectant and cleaner that is effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria, is virucidal, fungicidal and inhibits the growth of mold and mildew when used as directed.

How do I apply Clear Gear Sports Spray?

DISINFECTION/*VIRUCIDAL/FUNGICIDAL/MOLD & MILDEW CONTROL: Spray 6-8 inches from surface, until surfaces are thoroughly wet. Do not breathe spray. Treated surfaces must remain wet for 10 minutes. For Influenza Virus Type A and Human Coronavirus, treated surfaces must remain wet for 1 minute. Wipe dry with a clean cloth, sponge, or mop or allow to air dry.

FOR FUNGICIDAL ACTIVITy: this product is an effective one-step fungicide against Trichophyton mentagrophytes when used on surfaces in areas such as locker rooms, dressing rooms, shower and bath areas and exercise facilities.

FOR MOLD AND MILDEW: Repeat treatment every 7 days or more often if new growth appears.

TO CLEAN AND DEODORIZE: Apply undiluted to surfaces with a cloth, mop, sponge or sprayer. Wipe or allow to air dry.

This product is not for use on medical device surfaces.
